Morocco Germany Ink Declaration of Intent to Promote Cooperation in Energy

Rabat – Morocco and Germany signed on Tuesday a declaration of intent to reinforce economic and political cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries and promote investment in renewable energy in Morocco.Under this declaration, signed on the sidelines of an economic roundtable on the investment climate in the energy sector in Morocco by Energy, Mines, Water and Environment Minister, Abdelkader Amara, and Vice Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Federal Minister of Economy and Energy, Sigmar Gabriel, both parties emphasize that, in both countries, the energy transition should be considered globally and in synergy with the various sectors, including transport, industry and construction.The steering committee and working groups of the energy partnership are mandated to prepare a work plan with concrete goals. This work plan shall also include the development of a prospective vision of Morocco in the energy planning by 2050 (energy scenarios), taking into account the marine STEP, offshore wind and the joint organization of a side-event during the COP22, scheduled for November 2016 in Marrakech.With MAP
